Therapeutic and pharmacological effects:
Growing children and middle-aged women require more calcium. It is essential as a supplement in cases of nutritional deficiencies or during pregnancy (to enhance the mineralization of the fetal bones). Calcium also aids in managing and preventing osteoporosis, rickets, and maintaining dental health.
As a dietary supplement for osteoporosis, calcium helps prevent or slow down bone loss. It is crucial for maintaining the integrity of the nervous and muscular systems, nerve signaling, muscle contraction, normal heart function, vascular contraction and dilation, cellular and capillary membrane permeability, enzymatic functions, respiration, kidney function, and blood clotting.
Magnesium is an essential nutrient that acts as a cofactor in over 300 enzymatic systems. It is necessary for the formation of cyclic AMP (cAMP), calcium and magnesium ion transport across cell membranes, nerve signal transmission at neuromuscular junctions, proper muscle function (muscle contraction), carbohydrate, protein, and fat metabolism, tissue formation, and the development and maintenance of bones and teeth. Magnesium regulates numerous biochemical reactions in the body, including protein synthesis, nerve and muscle function, blood sugar control, and blood pressure regulation.
Zinc (zinc gluconate) is an essential mineral and serves as a cofactor in many biological processes, including DNA, RNA, and protein synthesis, as well as cell division. It plays a key role in vision, immune function, wound healing, reproduction, growth and development, bone mineralization, behavior and learning, taste and smell, blood clotting, and the function of thyroid and insulin hormones.
