Packaging and Dosage Form:
Each box has 30 tablets and 30 capsules with a patient information leaflet.
Therapeutic and pharmacological effects:
During pregnancy, the body’s need for essential nutrients increases to support the growth and development of the fetus. Meeting these requirements through diet alone can be challenging, and taking supplements is an effective way to ensure maternal and fetal health.
Key Components in Pregbion ® 2:
DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid):
DHA is a vital omega-3 fatty acid essential for the development of the brain and retina.
During the last trimester, DHA accumulates in the rapidly developing fetal brain, concentrating in gray matter and retinal membranes.
Adequate maternal intake of marine-derived omega-3 fatty acids may reduce risks of inflammatory-related conditions, such as preterm delivery, preeclampsia, and allergic diseases in children.
Iodine:
Crucial for producing thyroxine (T4) in the mother, which the fetus relies on for normal brain development early in pregnancy.
Deficiency in iodine can lead to irreversible brain damage in the fetus.
The American Thyroid Association recommends a daily supplement containing 150 mcg of iodine for pregnant women.
Folic Acid:
Essential for preventing neural tube defects, low birth weight, and miscarriage.
It is recommended to begin supplementation before pregnancy and continue throughout to prevent congenital abnormalities.
B Vitamins:
Vitamin B12 deficiency can impair fetal growth and lead to long-term neurological damage.
Low levels of B vitamins are associated with recurrent miscarriages, preterm birth, and low birth weight.
Vitamin C:
Acts as an antioxidant, protecting tissues from free radicals and reducing oxidative stress, a factor in conditions like preeclampsia.
Studies indicate its role in improving fertility and possibly boosting reproductive outcomes.
Vitamin E:
Known for its antioxidant properties, Vitamin E supports reproductive health and combats age-related changes in the placenta.
Regular intake is especially recommended for women of reproductive age.
Pregbion® 2 combines these essential vitamins and minerals, along with DHA capsules, to support the health of both mother and baby from the fourth month of pregnancy through breastfeeding.

Drug interactions:
Iodine may interact with lithium, amiodarone, and antithyroid medications, as these drugs can alter iodine levels.
Folic acid can interact with methotrexate, phenobarbital, primidone, and pyrimethamine.
High doses of vitamin E combined with anticoagulant medications may increase the risk of bleeding.
If you are taking other supplements or medications, consult your physician or pharmacist before use.
DHA may interact with:
Anticoagulant medications: It can reduce the effectiveness of anticoagulants and increase the risk of bleeding.
